Ama Dablam (6856m) is a small but beautiful snowcapped mountain located almost due south of Everest and Lhotse in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It is a steep pyramid of ice with vertical walls and sharp, exposed ridges. This mountain is considered to be technically difficult and challenging peak for the mountaineers. The normal route to climb Ama Dablam is from its South- West ridge. Climbers require a climbing permit and a liaison officer to attempt this expedition. It was first climbed on 13th of March, 1961 by Mike Gill (NZ), Barry Bishop (USA), Michael Gill, Mike Ward (UK) and Wally Romanes (NZ) via the Southwest Ridge. The best climbing months are April-May (before the monsoon) and September-October. Most part of the route is fixed with rope to allow safe passage and three camps need to set up by the Sherpa climbing team. This allows you the greatest chance of success
