Overview
Namchag Barwa is an excellent short trek that begins at Pei, a small village and the trail passes through Tsangpo via Pelma Kochung and Metog. Here, we take a ferry to cross Timpe on the north bank of the river, site of a revered Guru Rinpoche cave and monastery. A splendid trail leads north to the Nyima La through some of the finest virgin forests and flower gardens in southeastern Tibet. The idyllic walk passes a nomad camp and groves of flowering rhododendrons along the way. Many plant species abound in the open moorlands near the pass. From the pass we can have a glimpse of tremendous views of the Assam Himalayas, including nearby Gyala Pelri and Namche Barwa. On the far side of the Nyima La is the Rong Valley, a heavily forested scenic valley that is luxuriantly carpeted with primulas and violet irises blooming from May to July. The best time for this trek is from May to October. |
Itinerary
Day 01 : Arrival Kathmandu & transfer to hotel
Day 02 : Permits preparation & shopping
Day 03 : Transfer to the airport and fly to Lhasa
Day 04 : Lhasa sightseeing
Day 05 : Lhasa sightseeing
Day 06 : Drive to Bayi town, Overnight at camp
Day 07 : Drive to Pailong and prepare for next day trekking
Day 08 : Trek from Pailong town, cross cable bridge & trek to Yumei for Overnight at camp
Day 09 : Trek to Zhaqu, Overnight at camp
Day 10 : Full day trekking around Zhaqu, Yalung Zangbo River & Namche Barwa, O/N camp
Day 11 : Trek to Yumei, O/N camp
Day 12 : Trek to Pailong & then drive to Bayi, O/N camp
Day 13 : Drive to Basum (Basu), O/N camp
Day 14 : Drive to Lhasa
Day 15 : Fly to Kathmandu or any other mainland cities in China |

NEPAL EXTENSIONS
There are a variety of interesting extensions you might choose to add on either before or after your trek. These options include:
Chitwan National Park Tour
It provides excellent opportunities to view the rare species such as sloth bear, bison, rhinoceros, leopard and the exclusive tiger. Early morning jungle walks and safaris on elephant back are amongst the most popular activities. The jungle lodge can be reached from Kathmandu either by air or by private vehicle.
Mount Everest Scenic Flight
An hour flight departs Kathmandu early morning and provides spectacular views of Mount Everest and the surrounding mountains.
Culture/Heritage Tour
Nepal boasts a rich cultural diversity and it is well worth exploring. The Himalayan country of Nepal is a dream-world for many and reality for some. Bunjee Jumping
Nepal has become one of the best sites in the world for bungee jumping. The country’s first bungee jumping site is situated 160m over the roaring Bhote Koshi river, located close to the Nepal Tibet border (Kodari) just three hour’s drive from Kathmandu.
Water Rafting
Nepal is also popular as one of the best destinations for white water rafting in the world. Cruising down rushing river of crashing waves and swirling rapids can make up excitement of a lifetime. Nepal’s thundering waters, coming from the glaciers of the mighty Himalaya provide unmatched thrills for rafting & immersing oneself in the beautiful landscape.
Paragliding
Paragliding is relatively new adventure sport in Nepal, and can be truly wonderful and fulfilling experience for adventure seekers. We experience unparalleled scenic grandeur sharing airspace with Himalayan griffin vultures, eagles, and kites, while floating over villages, monasteries, temples, lakes and jungles, with a fantastic view of majestic Himalayas.
