This amazing overland tour through the central Tibet starts in Lhasa and ends in Kathmandu. It offers all the best the overland journey has to offer. It starts with a scenic flight across the Himalaya from Kathmandu to Lhasa ( if you are entering Tibet from Nepal) .In Lhasa you will explore the heritage and monument sites, popular Buddhist monasteries and old market at Barkhor Street. Some of sites during sightseeing in Lhasa include the Potala palace , Jokhang temple , traditional Bharkhor market and Drepung and Sera monasteries. Leaving Lhasa in a 4WD jeep our overland Tibet tour passes through the beautiful turquoise lake Yamdrok Tso on way to Gyantse where you will visit the famous Gyantse fort and the Kumbum monastery and head for Shigatse where you will visit Tashilhunpo monastery , the seat of the Panchen Lama. En route we will pass through many high passes above 5000 m , visit the nomad camps and enjoy the unique beauty of vast Tibetan Plateau. We can enjoy superb view of Everest , Cho oyu, Makalu and Shishapangma from Tingri and continue our journey towards the base camp of Everest North face .We visit the Rongbuk monastery and the base camp of Everest itself. Enjoying the awesome beauty of Mt Everest , we cross the Nepal Tibet border and drive to Kathmandu along lush forest and farm terraces, in contrast to the arid and dry Tibet.
Itinerary
Day 01: Kathmandu-Lhasa
Fly to Lhasa crossing over the highest Himalayan ranges of the world. Transfer to hotel. Full day rest for acclimatization
Day 02: Lhasa Sightseeing
Start the day tour from the greatest monumental building in Tibet, Potala Palace which perches on Hongshan Hill for almost three centuries. In the afternoon, visit the Sera and the Norbulingka Park. Overnight at hotel
Day 03: Lhasa Sightseeing
Visit the Jokhang Temple and the thriving bazaar of the Barkhor Street, both of which have history of more than one thousand years. In the afternoon visit the Tibet Museum & the Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital and the Carpet Factory. Overnight at hotel
Day 04: Drive Lhasa to Gyantse
A morning drive takes you to Gyantse. En route you stop at the Yamdrok Yumtso Lake and view the Karola snowy mountain. Then, you visit the Kumbum Stupa, Palkor Monastery and the Gyantse Old Street. Overnight stay at hotel
Day 05: Drive Gyantse to Shigatse (3880m)
Drive to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet and visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and the New Palace of Panchen. Tashilunpo Monastery is among the four main monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight stay at hotel
Day 06: Drive Shigatse to Shegar
Drive to stay in Shegar for one night before we stay in the high altitude of Rongphu Monastery area or the campsite near the Everest Base Camp, o/n in Resort
Day 07: Drive Shegar to Rongbuk
After breakfast in Shegar, we drive about 100 km to Rongphu Monastery (if you do not want to do the trekking and want to stay in guesthouse in Rongphu area, no problem!) and if you like little bit adventure, you can hike about 4 km to the Campsite of Everest Base Camp, o/n in the tent, enjoy the view to Everest peak, hope you can take photos of sun set of Everest.
Or, You can take the local environmental bus for the 14 km roundtrip transfer between Rongphu Monastery and Everest Base Camp) , take photos of Mt Everest, back to Rongphu (about 7 km) for overnight stay.
Day 08: Drive Rongphu/ Old Tingri/ Zhangmu, 265Km, 7-8hrs
After viewing the sunrise at E.B.C, start driving to Zhangmu via Old Tingri & Nyalam, crossing Thong La[5000m] pass, savoring the enchanting views of the surrounding peaks of Shishapangma[8020m], Cho Oyu [8201m], Menlungtse and Gauri, the road over the pass of Tongla is surrounded by the snow-capped peaks. Visit the meditation cave of Milarepa at Nyalam and continue drive to Zhangmu. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 09: Drive Zhangmu to Kathmandu
We cross the Kodari border between Tibet and Nepal after immigration and custom formalities. Then, we further drive to Kathmandu (144km). Overnight stay at hotel in Kathmandu

Chitwan National Park Tour
