This is a short five day trek, which leads from Paro to Thimphu or vice versa, crossing the chain of mountains that separates the two valleys. After an exploration of the Paro Valley, our first day's walk takes us up to the ruined Jele Dzong which perches on a high ridge and offers breath-taking views across to Mt.Jumolhari. During the trek we climb above the tree-line and cross several passes, including the Phume La (4210m.).
We make camp beside clear mountain lakes, visit a number of yak herder`s encampments and have splendid views of the peaks on the Bhutan/Tibet border, including Jitchu Drake and Gangkar Puensum. After we arrive in Thimphu, we will have a full day sightseeing, visiting the impressive Tashichho dzong, the traditional summer capital of Bhutan.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival Paro & transfer to hotel Pick up from Paro International Airport (2280m). Depending on the arrival time of the Druk Air flight, you will be served a meal in Paro and then you can go out in the town and mingling with the Bhutanese people. Dinner will be served in hotel.
Day 02: Trek Paro to Jele Dzong (2,590 m, 4 hrs)
After breakfast a short trekking begins. You will ascend gradually through the forest of chirpine, spruce silver fir etc to the camp at Jele dzong. If weather permits, Paro valley can be seen from this hilltop with snow-capped mountains behind.
Day 03: Trek Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha (3250m) After breakfast you will climb and cross a pass at 3,900m. The trail then takes you through thick temperate forests and rhododendron trees. You may see yak herders around your campsite.
Day 04: Trek Jangchulakha to Jynetsho (3780m, 6hrs) The trail follows the ridge. On a clear day, there are beautiful views of the mountains and the valley. The trail passes through lake Jimilangtsho. After the lake, the trail ascends till you reach the campsite at lake Jynetsho. If you are lucky, you might enjoy trout for dinner.
Day 05: Trek Jynetsho to Phajoding (3200m, 6hrs) The trail passes just above the lake Simkota through dwarf rhododendron trees. You might camp of yak herders en route depends on time of year. The trail continues with a gradual climb with stunning views of the mountains all around. After the pass, you descend to Phajoding Monastery. Camp far above the monastery. Overnight in camp
Day 06: Trek Phajoding to Thimphu (2320m, 8km) The trek to Thimphu is downhill through an area forested with blue pine. Taking it leisurely, you reach Hotel in Thimphu about 2 hours for a hot showers and a nice lunch. Evening at leisure
Day 07: Thimphu Sightseeing After breakfast you will go sightseeing in Thimphu includes visits to, National Library which was established in 1967 and has many ancient Dzongkha and Tibetan texts); Painting School or the National Institute for Zorig Chusum (the 13 traditional arts and crafts like painting, woodcarving, embroidery and statue making; National Memorial Chorten which was built in 1974 in memory of the third King of Bhutan; Semtokha Dzong which is about five kilometers south of Thimphu. Semtokha Dzong was built in 1629 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Today it houses the Institute for Language and Culture Studies.); Tashichhodzong the seat of the government of Bhutan. It houses the secretariat, the Throne Room, His Majesty’s secretariat, the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs and the Ministry of Finance. If the sightseeing falls on the weekend, you can visit Thimphu’s open vegetable market where farmers from the nearby regions gather to sell their produce.
Day08: Drive Thimphu to Paro
After breakfast we will drive to Paro across Dochula pass (3050 m) which provides a superb view of the highest peaks of Bhutan. Overnight and dinner at Paro
Day09: Fly Paro to Kathmandu/ Kolkata/ Delhi/ Bangkok

Chitwan National Park Tour
