This trek allows us an extensive trip to the south face of Mt. Kanchanjunga, especially the Yalung Glacier, where we find the South Base Camp. This trek is recommended for those who seek a complete escape into the wilderness, explore the ethnic culture and flora and fauna. Here we get a chance to see the ethnic groups such as the Limbus (who constitute most of the population of the area), the Rais and the Bhotias.
The trek starts by heading towards the Tamur River past Ghunsa for the north Kangchenjunga Base Camp after flying into Taplejung in a chartered aircraft. There will be optional mountaineering opportunities and is the best option for hikers seeking extended challenge. The magnificent mountain views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding mountains, traditional villages, cascading mountain rivers and scarcity of other trekkers combine to make this trek a glorious and unforgettable experience.
